Crown Range Summit

8 July 2017 | Grace

I found Crown Range Summit through the CamperMate app, and we originally planned to do freedom camping here on our second night. There were no other campervans in sight when we got there; other cars would just come and go. Fearing that our heavy van would get blown away to the cliff while we’re sleeping (yes, really), we both agreed to just have a quick supper, and head off to Kingston Holiday Park before it gets too late.

Tip: Some holiday parks like Kingston allow you to drive into their premises and park your campervan without a booking. You just have to pay the following morning (or phone them to arrange the payment if you’re leaving quite early).

p.s. Just sharing this Google Maps screenshot of the amusing Crown Range Road. Marco said he never wants to drive a campervan here again. Never ever.

Where I Belong – Raglan

2nd January 2017, Raglan Raglan is such a cool place for me, not only because of the beautiful beaches but also because Switchfoot have surfed there! Yes, I’m a big fan of Switchfoot. I LOVE their music, and the lyrics are just THE best. The theme song of this particular road trip is Where I […]

Little & Friday

M’s cooking is my absolute favourite. But he doesn’t like to cook every single day (and I don’t cook at all), so we eat out a few times a week. Today, we had breakfast at Little & Friday. We had just been to Mt Victoria to shoot and to take in the views, and having […]

Queenstown

On the photo is the view of Lake Wakatipu from Queenstown. We stumbled upon this area while looking for parking for our gigantic campervan. After a quick rest by the lake, we tried our luck again (with Google’s help) and found the Boundary Street Car Park, which has designated campervan parking spaces. Of course, we […]

Milford Sound

There’s no phone reception anywhere in Milford Sound. It feels so good to be offline. Offline is indeed the new luxury.

Mount Cook National Park

I wish we could have spent at least one full day here, and do some of the walks. We’ll be back for sure–maybe next winter, some time around my birthday again. 😀

Glentanner Park Centre

We arrived in Glentanner Park Centre a little shy of 8pm. Families of rabbits greeted us–there were probably 50 of them, seriously. This holiday park allows you to choose your own spot (others just assign you one). For safety reasons, Marco picked a spot just a few metres away from the other campervans. I slightly […]

South Island, New Zealand in 6 days.

5 July 2017 | READ MORE

A full-on road trip around South Island, New Zealand would normally take at least 3 weeks. We only had 6 days. We had to choose well among heaps of beautiful rivers, lakes, forests, mountains, beaches, glaciers, ski fields, restaurants and cafes, and make sure we don’t overdo it. Winter also means shorter days (sunrise at […]
