On the photo is the view of Lake Wakatipu from Queenstown. We stumbled upon this area while looking for parking for our gigantic campervan. After a quick rest by the lake, we tried our luck again (with Google’s help) and found the Boundary Street Car Park, which has designated campervan parking spaces.
Of course, we went to the infamous Fergburger, and bought one takeaway burger. There was a queue, but it wasn’t as bad as I thought. I also got myself a pistachio gelato next door at Mrs Ferg Gelateria.
As we were walking back to the van, we passed by the street where there were winter festivities going on, and chanced upon a Filipino stall selling grilled pork (on stick, like a kebab), we got one, and finished it while watching a band of teens playing old school rock music.
Then Marco mentioned Cookie Time. I actually wanted to get out of Queenstown as quick as possible but still ok’d the idea because I thought he wanted it. When we got there, I found out that he only wanted to come there because of me. (This is the only argument I remember we had during the entire trip. It was a one-sided argument, with just me talking.) Long story short, we got ourselves 3 freshly-baked cookies after waiting in the queue for nearly half an hour.
2nd January 2017, Raglan Raglan is such a cool place for me, not only because of the beautiful beaches but also because Switchfoot have surfed there! Yes, I’m a big fan of Switchfoot. I LOVE their music, and the lyrics are just THE best. The theme song of this particular road trip is Where I […]
M’s cooking is my absolute favourite. But he doesn’t like to cook every single day (and I don’t cook at all), so we eat out a few times a week. Today, we had breakfast at Little & Friday. We had just been to Mt Victoria to shoot and to take in the views, and having […]

There’s no phone reception anywhere in Milford Sound. It feels so good to be offline. Offline is indeed the new luxury.
I found Crown Range Summit through the CamperMate app, and we originally planned to do freedom camping here on our second night. There were no other campervans in sight when we got there; other cars would just come and go. Fearing that our heavy van would get blown away to the cliff while we’re sleeping […]
I wish we could have spent at least one full day here, and do some of the walks. We’ll be back for sure–maybe next winter, some time around my birthday again. 😀
We arrived in Glentanner Park Centre a little shy of 8pm. Families of rabbits greeted us–there were probably 50 of them, seriously. This holiday park allows you to choose your own spot (others just assign you one). For safety reasons, Marco picked a spot just a few metres away from the other campervans. I slightly […]
A full-on road trip around South Island, New Zealand would normally take at least 3 weeks. We only had 6 days. We had to choose well among heaps of beautiful rivers, lakes, forests, mountains, beaches, glaciers, ski fields, restaurants and cafes, and make sure we don’t overdo it. Winter also means shorter days (sunrise at […]
